Overview

LifeLong Medical Care is looking for an Junior Accountant our Administrative site in Berkeley. Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant prepares journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, fixed assets, research, assist with month end close, preparation of financial statements, preparation of company filings, and process company monthly credit cards.

This is a full time, non-exempt, benefit eligible position.

Benefits

Responsibilities
    Conduct month end close journal entries, with minimum supervision
  • Perform complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to bank/cash, prepaid expenses, payroll, accruals, and other assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare monthly fixed assets journal entry and reconciliation, and track all LifeLong's fixed assets
  • Provide descriptions of financial data and communicate insights in a useful manner to department heads and site leadership
  • Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
  • Develop and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes and seeking process improvements
  • Maintain company property taxes, 571L, welfare exemption and other filings
  • Maintain company credit cards
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Acts as backup to AP and AR including: new vendor setup, remote/cash deposit, generate weekly cash report, and others as assigned
  • Assist with year-end audit
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications; preferably Blackbaud Financial Edge
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare accurate reports
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a positive friendly manner and to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Ability to calculate numbers, and correct the entries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, but relevant experience may be considered
  • Two to three years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in Non-Profit/Community Health Centers (CHC) highly desired
  • Team player and ability to work independently
  • Willing to take on and learn new tasks
