Job Description
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direction or supervision of a more senior GRS Title IX/Equity staff member:
  • Assist with an institution's response to requests for accommodation in accordance with an institution's policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of trainings related to harassment and discrimination, responsible employee obligations, and prevention
  • Assist more senior GRS Title IX/Equity staff members in improving the overall functioning of clients' ADA, 504, and equity departments as well as prevention efforts.
  • Assist with gathering and securing information and data, keeping accurate and thorough records and notes of the resolution process
  • Take notes during party/witness interviews and client meetings, and draft meeting summaries or file notes.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings, hearings or grievances related to equity concerns handled by the client.
  • Become familiar with regulations and statutes relating to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, the FMLA, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
  • Properly maintain client data according to each client's expectations and standard.
  • Adhere to Grand River Solutions standards for performing Title IX and equity work
  • Follow any policies or procedures as set forth by client institutions, including timelines.
  • Assist with the drafting of essential correspondence related to processing of complaint.
Additionally:
  • Work with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain an appropriate professional demeanor at all times.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
Occasional travel may be required.

Skills Required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to draft error-free correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate by phone, email, and in-person with parties, witnesses, client representatives, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and grasp complex issues rapidly and accurately.
  • Willingness to work in, and contribute to, a diverse and inclusive environment working directly with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Mail, Google Docs, Excel, Power Point, Adobe, and similar software.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent.
  • A writing sample and completion of a writing test will be requested from those under consideration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in civil rights (ADA, and/or 504) compliance standards
  • Training in ADA/504 best practices for accommodations and responding to accommodations request.

Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.


Pay Ranges for Applicants in CA, CO, and WA
The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $80,000 - $100,000. For those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $50,000 - $90,000. For those based in Colorado, the range is $50,000 - $90,000. For those based in Washington State, the range is $50,000 - $100,000. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills
